Profile
Ph.D. in Environmental Analytical Chemistry from Kanazawa University. The development of eco-friendly and sustainable techniques for the remediation of soil and water contaminated with potentially toxic elements and radionuclides is the primary focus of her research.
Fields of Research
Environmental Analytical Chemistry, Soil and Water Remediation, Radiochemistry, Contaminant Speciation
Keywords
Soil Washing, Potentially Toxic Elements, Radionuclides, Biodegradable Chelants, Environmental Radioactivity, Strontium, Cesium, Solid-Phase Extraction, Contaminant Dynamics
Research Overview
Dr. Zinnat’s research focuses on the development and optimization of chemical-induced washing techniques to remove hazardous materials from contaminated environments. A significant part of this work involves the application of biodegradable aminopolycarboxylate chelants for the remediation of soils contaminated with potentially toxic elements, such as lead, copper, and zinc, as well as radionuclides, including strontium and cesium.
Dr. Zinnat’s studies explore the dynamics of these contaminants in soil, their complexation behavior with various agents, and the development of selective separation methods using solid-phase extraction systems. Furthermore, her research extends to assessing the mineralogical and chemical impact of anthropogenic activities on soil composition and environmental health.
