プロフィール

I received my Ph.D in Agriculture from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. Currently, my research is focused on the role of soil- and plant-associated microorganisms in influencing the transfer of radionuclides, mainly radiocesium, to plants.

研究テーマ

Elucidation of microbe–soil–plant interactions governing radionuclide mobility and uptake.

Investigation of the effects of nutrient-solubilizing microorganisms on the bioavailability of radiocesium in different soil types and its transfer to agriculturally important crops (e.g., rice and Brassica species).

Development of biological countermeasures to reduce radiocesium transfer to plants, including the use of fungal-fermented or decomposed materials.

研究概要

The release of radiocesium (Cs-137) into the environment following nuclear accidents has led to soil contamination, raising serious concerns about its persistence in soils, transfer to crops, and the delayed resumption of agricultural production. Soil properties and soil–plant–microbial interactions control Cs-137 bioavailability and plant uptake, influencing long-term environmental risk and food safety.

I study the behavior of Cs-137 in soil–plant systems, focusing on microbial influences. My research examines how nutrient-solubilizing microorganisms, particularly potassium- and phosphate-solubilizing bacteria, affect Cs-137 mobility, fixation–release dynamics, and uptake in crops such as rice and Brassica species across different soil types.

A key objective of my work is to develop biological countermeasures to manage Cs-137 transfer to plants. This includes the use of microbial inoculants and fungal-derived soil amendments, such as fermented materials and decomposed organic substrates, to regulate Cs-137 bioavailability. In parallel, I evaluate the effectiveness of these amendments in restoring soil fertility in decontaminated agricultural lands.

Through this research, I aim to provide sustainable, eco-friendly strategies to mitigate radiocesium risks and support agricultural recovery in affected regions.
