Profile

I received my Ph.D. from Niigata University for research about effect of dioxins on the large Japanese field mouse. Currently, I am studying about effect of radiation exposure on the large Japanese field mouse.

Main Focus of Research

·Effect of radiation exposure on the Japanese field mouse using oxidative stress markers.
·Effect of radiation exposure on DNA mutation in the next generations.
·Mechanism of Cesium accumulation in the large Japanese field mouse.
·Factors to create sexual difference in seasonal breeding in mammals.

Fields of Research

Molecular Ecology, Ecotoxicology

Keywords

Radiation, the large Japanese field mouse, gene

Research Overview

Since 2013, I started to study the effects of radiation on the large Japanese field mouse at National Institute for Environmental Studies. When organisms receive the radiation, a possibility is occurred that DNA is oxidized and mutation is induced. On the other hand, organisms have mechanisms to repair the damage such as oxidation. So, I investigate whether oxidative stress and DNA mutation are actually occurred in mice living in restricted area. Even after I arrived to Fukushima, I continue this research.

A few words

I visit to various place in Fukushima to investigation. I am deeply moved by beautiful view of mountain ranges and Satoyama.
After the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident in 2011, many animals and plants excepted for human are living in restricted area that is contaminated by radioactive materials. I would like to clarify and sent out how are they affected and surviving.
